Making our words count

Words. They are a key part of our lives. I have often spoken of having discernment and discretion around the words we speak, but what about the actual number or necessity of the words we speak?
How many of those words are truly necessary?

Silence, or at least a pause, ensures that you are present to those speaking, enables you to gather your thoughts, and can allow the space for the person speaking to hear themselves. Powerful people are often women or men of few words. Hmmm food for thought…

Perhaps this week, you could ask yourself if you actually need to speak? Will a simple yes or no be adequate? Or if more words are needed, what are the words required?

We have two ears and one mouth, a beautiful built-in subtle reminder to speak half the amount that we listen.
